Understand

An accessibility engineer to ask, grounded in WCAG 2.2.

OnCall explains what an issue means, who it affects and what to change, and turns that into code, tests and documentation. It answers in plain language, cites real success criteria, and says when it is unsure instead of guessing.

Included in

Every plan includes OnCall. Free comes with 5 requests a month; paid plans range from 100 to 3,000.

Why does my close button fail?

It contains only an icon, so screen readers announce just “button”. Give it a name that says what it does.

What OnCall does

  • Code auditor

Paste HTML or a component: it runs axe-core on it and reviews what automation can't, then returns corrected code.

  • Explain and fix

Plain-language explanations of any issue, with the smallest change that resolves it.

  • Screen reader and keyboard

What VoiceOver, NVDA and JAWS announce, and a keyboard plan based on the ARIA Authoring Practices.

  • Test cases

Manual checks, jest-axe, Playwright and screen reader scripts for the component you're building.

  • Alt text, statements and more

Eleven tools in all, including alt text, accessibility statement drafts, contrast checks and issue prioritisation.

How it works

  1. Step 1: Ask, or pick a tool

Start a conversation, or open a specialist tool with your code or issue already filled in.

  2. Step 2: Get a grounded answer

Each answer states its basis: what was checked automatically and what still needs a person.

  3. Step 3: Share it with your team

Post results, original code or corrected code to your Team Workspace.

What it does, and what it doesn’t

Accessibility evidence only helps when it’s honest about its limits.

  • Does: Follows WCAG 2.2 and never invents criterion numbers.
  • Does: Prefers native HTML and never presents redundant ARIA as required.
  • Does: Checks some rules, like Label in Name, by rule rather than by AI.
  • Doesn’t: Doesn’t replace testing with real assistive technology and real users.
  • Doesn’t: Doesn’t change your code by itself: you decide what to use.
